What customers say?

“ I haven’t been to this restaurant for a number of years, simply because I forget about it as it is upstairs and I don’t always see it. But this is my bad mistake because it really is excellent and serves a great mix of Western food with some local food for good balance. The fact that this is a really good place can be proven by the fact that it is still in operation after some 20 years, whereas many other restaurants come and go. I had the set menu of Chicken Parmigiana, which comes with a good soup and a nice ice cream desert. The chicken was the softest I have ever eaten and my wife’s hearty stew was extremely tender in a great sauce. The Tiramisu was also excellent. Prices are fair, and the portions are great. The restaurant is extremely clean, with a nice relaxing feel and I certainly will make sure that we visit here much more often in the future. ”

“ posh eating. deserves solid credit, but is short of distinction. sunday roast was well executed, but would be better more rare, indeed feral. veggies, in particular potato, added their punch to the plate, but came in undersized portions. pesto on pasta was fresh, and both smelt and tasted the part. sausage on plate was ok, but didn't add to the zesty green vibe. chicken parmigiana was likewise good, but would be better with dark-meat cutlet. tomato sauce could also be more lively. ”

“ I've been to No Eyed Deer (no idea ) several times for lunch, I've just had a lovely dinner. Very tasty, generous portions and quite a wide dinner menu. Will be back more often, thanks to Boss Ken. ”

“ Reassuring to see that No Eyed Deer is still in Penang ("Where shall we have lunch?" may, ironically, produce this suggestion). It's a popular venue for panAsian and European food. Now that the pedestrian bridge links this parade of shops with Island Plaza, it's easier to reach. You can see the place from the road. The Laksa is probably the highlight here, but the Sunday roast is quite good, too (no horseradish, but you get a Yorkshire pudding, and the beef is tender). The lunch menu is limited, but there are far more options in the evening. ”

“ I recently visited No Eyed Deer in Penang, a well-known café-style restaurant that has been around for some time. The environment is cozy and has a casual feel, making it a comfortable spot to dine with family or friends. The food here is generally nice, with a menu that focuses on traditional Western-style dishes. The flavors are decent, but nothing particularly unique or out of the ordinary. If you enjoy classic Western food without too many twists, then this place does deliver on that front. However, one downside is the pricing compared to the portion sizes. The dishes are on the higher side in terms of price, but the serving size feels a bit small for what you pay. For the same price range, there are other restaurants in Penang offering larger portions or more creative takes on similar dishes. That being said, the quality of the food is still consistent, and the taste is pleasant enough. It’s the kind of place you can go to for a straightforward meal, but it may not leave a lasting impression. Overall, No Eyed Deer is good for a casual meal if you don’t mind paying a little extra for the environment and the steady quality. ”

“ Incredible food and atmosphere. The owner is also very polite and pleasant. I would definitely come again. Trivia: This restaurant has been around for 24 years, their coffee jelly is to die for. ”

“ A homey dinner. We enjoyed the soup, chicken parmigiana, fish and chips, coffee jelly in particular. It was quiet on a weeknight but relaxed. Plenty of parking. The folks in-charge were friendly and welcoming. Read positive reviews about the laksa and other Asian options, but unfortunately they were only offered at lunch (whereas the Western options more during dinner). Price was fair: around 35RM per head but can go up/down depending on whether you want to include soup, drinks, dessert (we did for some). In short: nice all-around meal, wholesome meal, relaxing environment. ”
